How the ABIS member Solvay supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Following the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by Governments in late 2015 a number of companies have been thinking about how to incorporate them into their integrated reports and strategies. One of the main features is that “the SDGs enable companies to report information on sustainable development performance using common indicators and a shared set of priorities.”
The ABIS member Solvay, as a signatory member of the UN Global Compact, is already implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its daily business with its products and solutions. Solvay is committed to continue to advance those principles within its sphere of influence by incorporating the UN Global Compact and its principles within its strategy, culture and day-to-day operations.
Sustainability is at the heart of Solvay’s vision, and the goal is to become a role model for sustainable chemistry in manufacture, business and the management of people. Already in the Complementary Annual Report 2015, Solvay described how to conciliate the sustainability goals and the interests of stakeholders.
Solvay operates across a wide range of sectors and works with stakeholders to address sustainability challenges across the whole value chain. Some concrete examples are:
